With the low costs of computer and internet connections, it have become easier today for people to start a part time computer career from home.

The general attribute for people to start a computer career from home are:

- fulfill their dream of financial independence
- an extra income or back up income in the event of losing your full time job
- have a regular job with a regular income from home after retirement
- experience the joy and thrill of creating your own job opportunity
- an insurance against any economics downturn when there are mass retrenchment

However, when you want to start your own part time computer career from home, don’t be under the misconception that it needs very little effort and time. It is advisable that you should start by doing it on a part time basis while you still have a full time career.

There are several great reasons for starting your computer career on a part time basis:

- By doing it part time, you minimize your risk both in time and finance as your still have a full time income. (in fact, that is how I started my computer career from home).

- As you still are earning a full time monthly income, it will give you the confidence and money to invest in your part time career. You don’t have to worry about the payments of your monthly bills and can focus better in developing your part time career until it can earn you a SECOND source of full time income.

- There is always a learning curve we need to experience. Your first attempt of starting a part time career could end up in failure for various reasons despite your enthusiasm and determination to succeed. In such an event, at least you could still fall back on your full time income.

- With your full time career as a backup, you are not under tremendous pressure to perform in order to survive. You still can live normally as you developed new skills, knowledge and you can grow your second source of income at your own pace.

- You continue to enjoy the benefits of a full time career such as health insurance, annual leaves, bonus and other benefits that your company may have given you as an employee while you develop your part time career into a full time income.

Having listed the above benefits of not quitting your full time career while you developed your part time computer career from home, there are also some disadvantages that you should be aware:

- At time, working on a full time and part time career together can be strenuous and you may experience burnout or depressions. This may have an impact on your life and full time career as you neglect your love ones, career or even both.

- Your part time career may create problems for your full time boss or employer as you may become excessive indulgence in developing your part time career. Eventually, it may lead you to under perform in your full time career.

- During the initial year, you usually have to sacrifice much of your precious time with your family and friends as well as your leisure activities.

Although there are several disadvantages of starting a part time career, for those who really want to build a second source of full time income from home, they will somehow be able to over those initial difficulties.

As long as you are passionate about it, success will eventually be yours.

Recent studies carried out by the Clapham House Group and Regent Inns correctly predicted a slowdown in consumer spending, causing a slump in the share prices of restaurants and bar chains across the UK. There were a variety of reasons behind this predicted slump in consumer interest, including the continuing impact of the smoking ban, England’s failure to qualify for the Euro 2008 Championships and, of course, the continuing credit crunch.

One of the companies whose initial shares tumbled under the Clapham House Group and Regent Inn warnings was takeaway company Domino’s Pizza. But fast-forward a few months and things are certainly looking up financially for Domino’s, who in February 2008 recorded a 33% increase in full-year profits, and an 11% increase in profits for the first six weeks of the year, compared with profits from the same period of the previous year.

So why has Domino’s seen such an increase in popularity? Quite simply: because other, eat-in restaurants have seen a decline. Because of the credit crunch, people are now unwilling to pay the high prices of restaurants and bars, and are eating out a lot less than they have done in the past. Instead, more and more people are staying at home and ordering take-away pizza and other fast food.

As a result in the upturn of fast-food, Domino’s - whose shares have climbed 14-fold since the company’s flotation in 1999 - now have over 500 stores across the UK and Ireland, and are hoping to have doubled that number by 2017: proof that Domino’s, for one, are confident about making something of the UK’s economic problems.

Comparing the more credit card-friendly cost of a takeaway pizza, Chinese meal or Turkish kebab with a wallet-busting sit-in restaurant meal, it’s hardly surprising that the fast-food industry has experienced an upturn in trade and profits, given that the average two adults and two children ‘nuclear’ family can feed themselves for the equivalent cost of a three-course dinner for one in many restaurants. Add in the cost of a bottle of wine and a few beers, drinks and ice-cream for dessert from the local supermarket and the cost of eating in as a family weighs far below the likely restaurant bill - plus by eating in at home, you won’t have to tip the waiter!

There are other advantages to eating in at home, too. For starters, you won’t be limited by the restaurant’s choice of dishes as everyone can get exactly what they want from any manner of takeaway establishments - after all, most towns and cities have any number of fish-and-chips shops, Chinese takeaways and local pizzerias as well as takeaway shops catering for other types of food. Plus, depending on what you order, there may not be any washing up afterwards; just throw the empty container in the bin and you’re done!

And, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a restaurant where you can watch your favourite DVD while eating your dinner, making eating in at home almost as much a social event as eating out as you can invite your friends along to your house too - and all at a fraction of the cost; so long as they bring along their own takeaway, of course!

In the world of business, professionalism is everything and perceived levels can literally make or break a business deal or relationship. It’s important, therefore, that everything has a professional gleam - from an organisations website to any printed business materials produced and distributed. This is particularly prevalent when trying to attract new customers as business correspondence that looks smart and sleek hints at an air of proficiency and expertise that will stand you in good stead throughout all future transactions. You could say it pays to inject a little professionalism into your print.

Getting the right equipment is easy if you begin by establishing exactly what your requirements are. Do you need to print large quantities at high speeds? Perhaps you need to reproduce high quality graphics quickly and easily. Whatever the scenario, let your printer deliver whatever your business demands.

The first question you should ask is whether you need a colour printer. If all your materials are produced in mono then chances are a black and white printer will satisfy your business needs. It is also wise to think of the long term future and whether it is likely your printing specifications will change over time.

Another main factor to ponder is whether you need an inkjet or laser printer. Inkjet printers do as their name suggests and use inks to product text and images whereas laser printers use the same toner as photocopiers and fax machines. You will find you can achieve a higher resolution with laser printers which is particularly useful if you need to print precise and intricate fonts and designs.

Generally speaking laser printers operate at higher speeds and are capable of handling higher volume printing. If you need to print lots of documents every day a laser printer is a quick and easy means of doing so.

Speciality needs are catered for too so don’t fear if your business is a little more demanding than the norm. Large format business printers are ideal for the needs of graphic design or in-house marketing and you really can tailor your printed materials to your customers needs.

If your business keeps you on the go make sure your printer keeps up. Have a look at the mobile printer options available and make every minute count by printing professional quality documents, whether in the office or on the move. If photography’s your thing then you may be interested in a specialised photo inkjet printer which gives you the flexibility of being able to print with or without a PC - you can either plug-in to a PC or simply work from USB. Whichever option suits you best you can be sure high quality photo prints will be yours in a jiffy.

Investigate the options offered by business printers and see what a difference they can make to your business success.

Business ideas come in all shapes and sizes, but it’s what you do with them that matters. If you don’t construct a solid business plan you will be laying yourself wide open to all manner of events that could upset your ambitions and goals for the future.

This is especially true when it comes to the financial side of things. At the very least you will be relying on your business to bring in an income for you, and if you employ other people you will need to ensure you can afford to pay them. The business plan you create will need to bear these things in mind – quite apart from the fact that you will usually need to have one to be accepted for a business account with your local bank.

It is important to understand that writing a business plan isn’t something that can be done in five minutes. The more research and effort you put into it the more likely you are to build a strong business that has a real chance of competing against your rivals. Unless you have a truly unique idea (and there aren’t too many of those around) your plan will help you to identify what sets you apart from your competition and give you ideas on how to market your services to your target audience.

The next step is to identify whether you will need financing to get your idea off the ground, and if you do, how much you will need. There are various different ways to finance a business, from putting in your own money to getting a business loan from the bank. No particular way is better than another – it all depends on your own situation.

There are also other important factors you need to consider when you are developing your plan, such as working capital, cash flow, credit insurance and business insurance, since these will all help you weather any storms you might face.

As you can see, it’s just as important to keep an eye on the financial side of things as it is to concentrate on the creative side of your business. For example, if you take on an order for a big client that could result in a great leap forward for your business and they fail to pay, that could lead to disaster if you don’t have credit insurance to guard against such instances happening.

Forward thinking is an essential skill to have when you are thinking through your business plan. While we would all like to assume our businesses are going to be a huge success and we won’t encounter any problems of any kind at all, the reality can often be somewhat different. What you need to do is make sure you have adequate measures in place to deal with problems if they arise, to ensure that they don’t sink your business altogether.

by © Arthur, The Motivation Home

Everyday we are bombarded with so many things that surround us that we often lose focus on what we want to do and should be doing. We can be busy doing thousand and one thing that doesn’t improve our life in anyway. The question we should often asked ourselves is “busy doing what”?

Technology have greatly improve our lifestyle but at the same time it has also invaded our lifestyle. You can easily be order back to work when you are enjoying time with your family. Handphone have made us contactable no matter where you are.

At our work place, we are facing an ever increasing work load as companies try to save cost by employing lesser people to do the same amount of work. That is why many employees are stress out by the time they reach home. Then there are those who even bring their work load back.

When you bring your work back home, your work and family life get confused. While playing with your kids, you could be thinking about work. While at work, you feel guilty about not spending quality time with your kids and you kept thinking about your kids. This become a vicious cycle and it affect your concentration.

Without concentration, our body are in motion but we are not productive at all. We may start doing one thing and then something distract us and we stop and start another. It is just like people who invest in stocks. Most stock investor are loser because there are many noise in the market. The stock analyst might recommend a hot stock for today. Tomorrow, he recommend another. People who can’t concentrate lose their focus and kept chasing one stock after another and end up losing their money. Only people like Warren Buffett wins because he only concentrate on a few number of stocks and buys like a hawk. Even a stock market crash does not affect his decision. Warren buffett concentrate on a single stock investment strategy and knows what he is investing and enjoy doing his work.

One of the main reason why many people find it difficult to concentrate because they could be doing something which bored them. People with great concentration power love what they do and to it well. Take a good look at those great people in history, they often are people who choose task or job that they enjoy working on. When you enjoy your task, the tick of time flies very fast. Hours past like minutes and nothing can distract you from completing your task.

At time, it is our lifestyle that let us forms bad habits. Today, people multi-task too much. They watch TV, play games or talk on their handphone while eating. They write emails and talk on the phone at the same time. All these weaken our concentration power and we may be busy doing non-important things.

So, take time to think about what you really want to focus on. Don’t spread your attention too thinly or you may miss out the success that could be yours.

What’s become clear is the need for good legal documents, e.g. tenancy agreements, guarantee of tenancy etc… There are a few like ‘Properite’ landlord software (www.properite.co.uk) that include up to date and legally binding documents to be used by landlords and letting agents.

Let’s not forget that landlord software also covers tasks covered by letting agents as well as those encountered private landlords.

So, what must a good landlord software package do? Well, it needs to organize information about tenants and properties logically. Encourage a workflow that speeds up the day-to-day running of a rental portfolio.

It must include legal template documents, for example, a Tenancy Agreement and Guarantee of Tenancy at a minimum. Year-on-year the UK introduces new rules and regulations to ensure Tenants and Landlords are protected. For example, we have seen the introduction of the Tenant Deposit Scheme and new HMO regulations to quote a few. The software must reflect these changes and be able to update itself.

Any landlord software must help the user not frustrate them! Like all good software packages it must not force the user to fill in every last detail. It must allow the user to use as little or as much of the package as required. The backbone of any good landlord software application is a good diary and task facility that ensures important events and jobs do not get forgotten. It must integrate tasks and ensure that it does a better job than using disparate packages like Word or Excel. An essential task is getting an advert of each property online with as little fuss as possible.

Put simply, landlord software packages are useful software tools to help landlords and letting agents manage their rental portfolios in the digital age. However, they must also include relevant legal documents to help successfully run a rental portfolio.

Many people have known what it is like to be made redundant. It can really knock your confidence and if it comes as a total surprise it can take a while to get back on your feet again.

But once that initial shock has worn off you need to make sure you find out what kind of redundancy package you are going to get – and you shouldn’t be afraid to ask any questions you might have, since this is by far the best time to do it.

The first step you should take is to check your contract of employment to see what it says about redundancy. While there are legal requirements as to what a company should provide when it makes an employee redundant many companies do provide more, so be sure you are getting the best package that is available to you.

You may also find that you can discuss matters with your employer to arrange the circumstances of you leaving to suit both of you. This will usually take the form of compromise agreements that can be written up to apply to each specific and unique situation.

Obviously any occasion where redundancy becomes a factor is an anxious time for both the company and the employee. The worker is losing their job and wants to know that they will be able to go on to another position in another company without being affected too badly by the redundancy. The employer meanwhile wants to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible and is resolved quickly and easily. They may also want to protect their image and reputation.

On some occasions, the best way to do this is to arrange a compromise agreement which is worded to be appealing to both parties. If your company offers you one of these you are strongly advised to read it through thoroughly and take time to get it checked by a solicitor before signing it. This is vital if you want to ensure you are getting the best deal you are entitled to.

Of course if your contract stipulates that you will get a certain amount of redundancy pay (and sometimes other benefits too, such as help in finding another job and an excellent reference) then compromise agreements may not be necessary. They are more common if the company feels there is a chance of the employee taking matters to an employment tribunal, and they want to try and prevent that happening.

In short, although your redundancy may come as a complete shock it is important not to agree to anything without having time to consider your situation first. Most companies will understand this and agree to it, but ultimately it is up to you to make sure you protect your own back as much as you can.

The old adage ‘time is money’ was more or less invented for the working world. After all, there can be little argument that time spent unproductively is, more often than not, to the detriment of the company.

Hence, working life in the 21st century is a completely different ballgame to that of only a couple of decades ago. It seems that the office environment has been streamlined significantly to help minimize the resources that are used on laborious and time-consuming administrative tasks.

Indeed, it’s probably fair to say that for every task that can be performed by hand, there is some kind of product that now exists to make the job that little bit easier. And in many cases, that device will carry out the task completely, with minimal human intervention.

Even the smallest of offices can afford a photocopier that not only duplicates paper documents, but also mass-produces, staples and sorts documents into neat, ordered piles. And all by simply pressing a few buttons. The amount of time and money this saves businesses each year is probably incalculable.

And although little persuasion should be required as to the benefits of email over conventional ‘snail mail’, the fact is, the need for traditional mail is unlikely to disappear any time soon. And this is perhaps the one area many offices have failed to streamline.

Most companies will, at some point during each week, need to perform at least one sizeable mail-out. It could be invoices, conference invitations or a newsletter. Whatever the occasion, physically folding an A4 sheet twice and then inserting it into the envelope whilst ensuring the address displays correctly through the little window, can be a very time-consuming exercise, especially if there are hundreds, or even thousands, to do.

Of course, where there is any sort of demand to alleviate time-consuming manual tasks, the supply is never normally far behind. And this is why more and more companies are using folders and inserters to effectively manage their mail.

Similar to a photocopier, by simply pressing a few buttons, a folding and inserting machine can be left to its own devices and fold, insert and seal any mail-out. Thus, the time normally spent laboriously managing mail, can be spent far more productively. Not only do folders and inserters help with mail management, they’re also effective in developing new customers. A broad range of folding and inserting systems are available, from solutions for common applications such as bills and direct mail, to larger systems that utilise integrated technology for a more streamlined process.

So, for most people, it’s probably difficult to imagine working life without all the technology that is now largely taken for granted. From photocopiers and franking machines, to emails and folding/inserting systems; they are all designed not only to make life easier for the staff, but also to streamline operations, making the business as cost-effective as possible. After all, time does equal money.
